GTA Vice City Hidden Packages: All 100 Locations and Rewards
GTA Vice City hides 100 green packages across the map. Each one pays $100, every ten unlock a permanent weapon or vehicle at your safehouses, and all 100 together add $100,000 and a Hunter attack helicopter. Here is every reward, where it spawns, and the fastest way to collect them.
What the hidden packages are
Hidden packages are 100 small green statues scattered across Vice City. They spin slowly, glow slightly, and are placed everywhere from rooftop air-conditioning units to the seabed under a pier. Walking over one picks it up and pays $100. You cannot collect one from inside a car or on a bike - Tommy has to be on foot.
They are not decoration. Every ten packages unlocks a permanent reward, and the rewards are almost all weapons or vehicles that then spawn free of charge at your safehouses for the rest of the save. By the time you have 70 packages you effectively own an armoury, which makes the later story missions far easier than they would be otherwise.
Collecting all 100 is also one of the requirements for 100% completion, so if you are going for a full clear, this is not optional content.
Every reward, milestone by milestone
The rewards arrive at fixed thresholds. The first seven are weapons, the last three are military vehicles.
| Packages | Reward | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Body armour | All three safehouses |
| 20 | Chainsaw | All three safehouses |
| 30 | Colt Python (.357) | All three safehouses |
| 40 | Flamethrower | All three safehouses |
| 50 | Sniper rifle (.308) | All three safehouses |
| 60 | Minigun | All three safehouses |
| 70 | Rocket launcher | All three safehouses |
| 80 | Sea Sparrow helicopter | Behind the Vercetti Estate, Starfish Island |
| 90 | Rhino tank | Fort Baxter Air Base |
| 100 | Hunter attack helicopter + $100,000 | Fort Baxter Air Base |
The money works out like this: 100 packages at $100 each is $10,000, and the completion bonus adds $100,000. Total haul from the packages is therefore $110,000 - more than enough to buy several of the businesses you need for the story.
Where the weapon rewards spawn
The first seven rewards all appear at the same three properties, so it is worth knowing where each one is and when you unlock it.
| Safehouse | Location | Unlocked |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean View Hotel | Ocean Beach, Vice City Beach | From the start of the game |
| Vercetti Estate | Starfish Island | After the mission Rub Out |
| Hyman Condo | Downtown, Vice City Mainland | After buying it, once the Mainland is open |
Two of those three need progress first. Starfish Island only opens after Guardian Angels, and the Mainland bridges only open after Phnom Penh '86. That is why the usual advice is to start collecting on Vice City Beach, where the Ocean View Hotel is available immediately - you can bank the first few rewards before the map even opens up.
The Sea Sparrow, Rhino and Hunter
The last three rewards are the interesting ones, because they are vehicles you cannot buy anywhere.
Sea Sparrow - 80 packages
A small helicopter with a forward minigun and pontoons, which means it can land on water. It spawns behind the Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island. This is the single most useful vehicle for finishing the collection, because the remaining rooftop and island packages become trivial when you can fly to them directly.
Rhino - 90 packages
The tank. It spawns inside Fort Baxter Air Base, north of Escobar International Airport. The Rhino is effectively immune to small-arms fire and can drive through traffic, so it turns the last stretch of the story into a formality - but it is slow, and the base is military property, so expect a wanted level if you go in loudly.
Hunter - 100 packages
The attack helicopter, with a minigun and rockets. It appears at Fort Baxter Air Base once you have all 100 packages and have finished the story. If you want it on the Ocean Beach helipad instead, that spawn also unlocks after 100 packages and the final mission.
The seven kinds of hiding place
Packages are not randomly scattered - they follow a handful of recurring placement patterns. Once you know the patterns, you can sweep an area quickly instead of hunting visually.
| Type of spot | Where to look | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rooftops | Top of buildings in Ocean Beach, Vice Point and Downtown | Usually need stairs, a ramp or a helicopter |
| Under bridges and on piers | Beneath the bridges between islands, along the beach piers | Some sit just above the waterline |
| Inside accessible buildings | Shops, the mall, the airport terminal, clubs | Walk in through the front door |
| Small islands and sandbars | The scattered islets in Ocean Bay | Need a boat or a helicopter |
| Alleys and loading bays | Behind buildings in Little Havana, Little Haiti and Viceport | Easy to walk past |
| Underwater and on the seabed | Shallow water around the beach and the docks | Swim down, walk over it |
| Airport and military land | Escobar International and Fort Baxter | Expect a wanted level if you are seen |
Roughly half of the 100 sit on Vice City Beach, the eastern island you start on. That is deliberate - it lets you unlock the early weapon rewards before the bridges open, and it means the beach is where a systematic sweep pays off fastest.
How to collect them efficiently
- Sweep Vice City Beach first. It is open from the start, it holds about half the packages, and the rewards from 10 to 70 packages all land while you are still doing early story missions. Free body armour and a free .357 change how the first act plays.
- Work district by district, not randomly. Pick one area, clear it completely, then move on. Wandering between districts is how people end up at 94 packages with no idea which six are missing.
- Open Starfish Island before you finish the beach. Guardian Angels unlocks it, and with it the Vercetti Estate safehouse - which is where two of your three reward drop-off points live.
- Get the Sea Sparrow at 80, then finish with it. The last twenty packages are the awkward ones - rooftops, sandbars, the far side of the bay. Flying to each one is dramatically faster than driving and swimming.
- Keep a written tally per district. The game only shows you a total, so a simple note of "Ocean Beach 12/12, Vice Point 9/12" is what stops the final search from becoming a map-wide crawl.
Common mistakes
- Driving over a package. It does not count. You have to be on foot, so park and step out.
- Assuming the rewards are temporary. They are permanent safehouse spawns. Do not save them "for later" - there is no downside to picking them up early.
- Leaving the awkward ones until last. Sandbar and rooftop packages are the ones people fail to find. Grab them while you still remember where you have already been.
- Ignoring the Mainland until the story forces you. Phnom Penh '86 opens the bridges and the Hyman Condo, but the mainland packages do not require any mission progress beyond that.
- Collecting without saving. Save after each district. Losing a run to a failed mission and reloading an older save costs more time than the save itself.
Do they count for 100% completion?
Yes. All 100 hidden packages are one of the listed requirements for 100% completion, alongside the story missions, the vehicle export lists at Sunshine Autos, the rampages, the stunt jumps, the properties and the side missions. If your goal is a full clear, the packages are unavoidable - which is another reason to start on the beach early rather than treating them as end-game cleanup.
Frequently asked questions
How many hidden packages are in GTA Vice City?
There are 100 hidden packages. Each one pays $100, so the packages alone are worth $10,000, and collecting all 100 adds a $100,000 bonus on top.
What do you get for all 100 hidden packages?
You get $100,000 and a Hunter attack helicopter at Fort Baxter Air Base, on top of every earlier reward - body armour, the Chainsaw, the Colt Python, the Flamethrower, the .308 sniper rifle, the Minigun, the rocket launcher, the Sea Sparrow and the Rhino tank.
Where do the hidden package weapons spawn?
The weapon rewards from 10 to 70 packages spawn at all three safehouses: the Ocean View Hotel in Ocean Beach, the Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island, and the Hyman Condo in Downtown. They stay there permanently once unlocked.
How do you get the Rhino tank in GTA Vice City?
Collect 90 hidden packages. The Rhino then spawns inside Fort Baxter Air Base, north of Escobar International Airport. It is also available through a cheat code if you would rather not hunt.
How do you get the Sea Sparrow in GTA Vice City?
Collect 80 hidden packages. The Sea Sparrow - a helicopter with a minigun that can land on water - appears behind the Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island.
Can you collect hidden packages while driving?
No. You have to walk over them on foot. Packages cannot be picked up from inside a vehicle, which is why a few of the harder ones need you to park and get out.
Do hidden packages count towards 100% completion?
Yes. Collecting all 100 hidden packages is one of the requirements for 100% completion in GTA Vice City, alongside the story missions, the vehicle export lists and the side activities.
